Port Charlotte Dog Trainer

Private In-Home Dog Training in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda & North Port

If you're looking for a private dog trainer who comes to your home, you're in the right place!

I work one-on-one with you and your dog, in the rooms and on the streets where your daily life actually happens, so the progress holds up long after I leave.

No cookie-cutter curriculum. Just a plan built around your dog, your home, and your goals.

Why does in-home training work?

Here's the thing: your dog doesn't struggle at "training class."

They struggle at your front door when the doorbell rings. On your street when another dog walks by. In your kitchen when you're trying to eat dinner. Those are the moments that actually matter, and they're exactly where I show up.

Private dog training lets me see your dog in the environment where the behavior actually happens, work around your real routines, and adjust the plan along the way instead of running everyone through the same steps regardless of what's going on at home.

What can private training help with?

Every dog I work with is different (that's kind of the whole point), but this is where I spend most of my time:

  • Basic obedience and everyday manners
  • Reactivity toward other dogs, people, or specific triggers
  • Puppy training and getting off on the right foot
  • Leash pulling and general leash manners
  • Off-leash reliability and recall
  • Jumping, counter-surfing, barking, and other everyday household frustrations
  • Confidence building for anxious or shut-down dogs

Not sure your dog's issue fits neatly on this list? That's more common than you'd think! Tell me what's going on and let's figure out where to start.

How Training Works

Getting started is simple. Here's exactly what to expect, step by step.

Step 1

Phone Call/Email/Text

We'll start by chatting about your dog, your goals, and what you hope to get out of training so that we can make sure my services are a good fit.

Step 2

In-home consultation.

I come to you, meet your dog in your own space, and see the behavior firsthand so that we can come up with a personalized training plan together. This step makes sure that both of us feel my programs and training style are the best fit for you and your dog.

Step 3

Personalized training plan.

From there, I build a plan around your dog and your schedule, not a template. As training progresses, the plan adjusts with your dog.

Training Options

Depending on your dog and your goals, training usually lands in one of a few places:

Single Private Lessons

For owners who want to be hands-on and work through specific issues one session at a time.

Private Lesson Programs

Built for dogs who need more focused work on things like reactivity or impulse control.

Homeschool Programs

Built for busy families who need a little extra help getting their dog practice throughout the week.

A Fully Custom Plan

For when your dog's situation calls for something more tailored.

You can see the full range of programs, including options where I train your dog several days a week, on the Services page.

Who are my training programs a good fit for?

Private training is a great fit if you want to be part of the process, you'd rather work at home than in a classroom full of other dogs, or you've tried a group class or a board & train before and it just didn't hold up once you got home.

It's also the right starting point if your dog is dealing with reactivity or anxiety and wouldn't do well being thrown into a room full of strangers and other dogs in the first place.

Service Area

I provide in-home dog training throughout Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, and North Port, along with nearby communities in Southwest Florida.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is private training different from a group class?

Group classes teach the same curriculum to every dog in the room, regardless of what's actually going on with them at home. Private training happens in your home, on your schedule, and the plan is built around your specific dog from the start.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your dog and the goals for training. Some households see real change in a handful of sessions. Others, especially with reactivity or more established habits, need more time. I'll walk you through realistic expectations during your consultation.

Do you work with reactive or anxious dogs?

Yes, absolutely. Reactivity and anxiety are two of the most common things I'm brought in for, and in-home training is often a better starting point for these dogs than a group setting.

Do I need to be home for every session?

It depends.

For private lessons, yes. Private lessons are built around you learning alongside your dog, so you can keep the progress going between sessions and after training wraps up.

For homeschool programs you do not need to be home for every session. Typically we'll schedule your dog for a 4-day week, and you only need to be home for one of those four sessions per week so that I can teach you what your dog learned and how to continue to build and maintain those skills.

What ages and breeds do you work with?

Puppies through adult dogs, any breed. The plan changes based on your dog's age, temperament, and history, not a one-size-fits-all script.

What areas do you serve?

Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port, and the surrounding Southwest Florida communities.
