Helping You And Your Dog Build A More Enjoyable Life Together

At Highwater Dog Training, every lesson starts with a simple question: what would make daily life with your dog actually easier? That's the goal behind the personalized, in-home training I provide throughout Southwest Florida — not just teaching commands, but building the kind of communication that holds up in real life, not just during a lesson. Over the past decade, I've worked with hundreds of dogs and the families who love them, and no two plans have ever looked the same, because no two dogs — or lifestyles — ever do. The result is a dog you feel more confident with, whether you're home for the evening or out taking on the world together.

Meet Your Dog Trainer

Hi, I'm MJ!

Over the past decade of training dogs professionally, the biggest lesson has been this: there's no single "right way" to train a dog, because there's no single kind of dog or family. Every dog walks in with a different personality, and every household has a different version of what "success" actually looks like. Figuring out that version — and building a real plan around it — is genuinely my favorite part of the job. There's nothing quite like watching someone go from unsure to confident once they finally have a plan that makes sense for their dog.

My approach starts from a simple idea: training should adapt to your life, not ask you to rearrange your life around it. So instead of a generic program, you get a plan shaped around your dog, your routine, and what you're actually hoping to change. Raising a puppy from scratch or working through a harder behavior issue — either way, my job is to make the process feel doable, not overwhelming.

Why My Approach Works

Most of the people I work with have already tried something before they call me — group classes, a stack of YouTube videos, bits of advice pieced together from friends or Facebook groups. None of that means they've done anything wrong. More often than not, they've just been buried under conflicting advice, or following a method that was never built for their specific dog in the first place.

That's the gap Highwater Dog Training is built to close. Every plan starts with you and your dog as you actually are, not a generic template. Together, we'll build something practical enough to fit into your actual week, not just a lesson you do once and forget. The goal isn't just a list of commands — it's helping you understand your dog well enough that you can keep making progress on your own, long after we've wrapped up.

Whether you're just starting out with a new puppy, working through a tougher behavior, or you're simply ready for a dog you feel good about bringing anywhere, that's exactly the kind of thing I help with.
